A few more words about this course

We will start with drawing out a still life and then week by week work together to paint it.  This is a great introduction to painting with gouache.  Students can ask questions during the class and get feedback.  Recordings will be posted in case you miss a class.  This is a one time offering, starting in February and ending in March.  This class is included with your McEvoy Atelier Membership.
Throughout this course you will discover how:

  • to set up a still life
  • Do the underdrawing in graphite
  • Paint the background
  • Paint from general shapes to specific details
  • Create light in your painting

I am a Florentine trained professional portrait painter and I've taught art for 17 years to all ages and walks of life. My lessons incorporate the classical methods acquired in Florence, and are applied to drawing and painting to the world around us; the poetry of everyday life.  Every lesson is suffused with not just technical ideas, but with art history.
